Art In Action
Inclusive Design & Event Planning
I was a team member for the Honorary Micheal Latt Inaugural Artivist Fellowship, Art in Action, a 12-week program for young South LA artists centered on social justice and creative voice. Within the last month of the fellowship/program, I co-created a culminating showcase with the fellows, displaying their artivism and celebrating their commitment to this rigorous program.

Challenge
With only 3 weeks to plan, and 13 student artists to co-design a showcase with, I sent the invitations and reached out to students immediately to get the ball rolling.
Objective
I used inclusive design principles when ideating with the fellows on the experiential design of the exhibition and the art activations. I synthesized and executed their vision by producing the event layout, flow, run-of show, budget, and procuring all necessary materials. I successfully coordinated across teams to complete all logistical preparation. Throughout the showcase event planning process, I simultaneously supported the administration of the final weeks of the program, coordinating session logistics with our guest speakers.
Results
Art in Action was the ultimate test of my event planning abilities and this opportunity solidified my adaptability and skill set to produce an event at this scale. During the 4 hour event, the 80+ attendees had access to 3 interactive art activations and original work of 13 promising artivists. Although the short timeline presented a challenging circumstance, the final showcase successfully integrated student visions and honored Michael Latt's legacy.
